When should you migrate a website rather than build a new one?
You should migrate your new website to Aptuitiv if:
- You really like your existing website, and you just need a better website content management system.
- You need to get away from your existing host, developer, or agency as soon as possible.
- You're planning a redesign later, but you first need to get on a better CMS.
- What you have for a website is already working well for your company goals, but you need better support and better tools.

How migrations work
Assess the quality of the existing code and plan any changes
The first step is to make an assessment of the quality of your existing website. It may look great, but is the HTML, CSS, and Javascript code great? Sometimes, WordPress websites that are solely built with website builder plugins are bloated and have poor code quality. It doesn't make sense to migrate bad code to a good CMS. If that's the case, then we'll discuss rebuilding the website instead of migrating the current code.
But, sometimes the code is good enough that it should be migrated as-is, or with minimal changes.
We will also discuss any improvements or changes that you may want to make during the migration.
Schedule and coordinate the migration
Once we've determined how the website is to be migrated, and you've approved our proposal for the project, the migration can begin.
We will coordinate with you on the schedule so that while we're migrating the website, you're not making updates to the existing website.
The new website will be built on Aputitiv and on a staging URL so that your current website and traffic isn't affected.
Review and launch on Aptuitiv
After the migration is completed you'll have a chance to review. Once you approve the migration then we'll coordinate with you to update the DNS records to launch the new website.
After the website is launched we'll do a live video call to train you and your team on using Aptuitiv to manage your website. After that, we will continue to support you and your team if you have any questions about Aptuitiv or need any additional work done on your website.
