Recent developments in Aptuitiv Studio

Even though it's been the holiday season recently, we've been hard at work adding new features and improvements to Aptuitiv Studio.  Below is a recap of what we've worked on lately.

Interface Improvements

  • Softened the edges with rounded corners on form inputs and on other boxes.  (note - you'll only see this in Firefox and Safari as Internet Explorer doesn't support rounded corners with CSS)
  • Improved the highlighting of items in the list tables when they are added or updated.  For example, if you change a page and click "Save Page" when you're taken back to the page that page will be highlighted to show that it was updated. If the page is also a sub page it's parent pages will be expanded.
  • Added the ability to some tables to allow sorting items by dragging table rows. You can see it in action in the Collection Widget or in the Gallery app.

App Improvements

Blog

We're really excited about the recent updates to our Blog app.  The new stuff all has to do with comment moderation

  • Added the ability to moderate comments.
  • Dramatically improved the admin interface for moderating comments.
  • Comments can now be marked as approved, pending or spam.
  • You can now add new comments in the administration or reply directly to a comment.
  • Added 3 email notifications for notifying you of new comments, if a comment need moderation or if a comment is flagged as spam.
  • Added the ability to mark a comment to be moderated or as spam if it contains certain blacklisted words or if the comment if from a specific IP address.
  • Added the ability to mark a comment to be moderated if it contains too many links.

Employment

The Employment app is still technically in beta as not all of the interface has been completed, but we've made some significant advancements.

  • Improved the ability to email a job application to someone and added the ability to see a log of who an application was emailed to.
  • Added the ability to set a status for a job application (New, Pending, Hired, Rejected, Duplicate, Archived).
  • Added the ability export one or more job applications in CSV format.

Forms

The Forms app is part of the core system and it provides the ability to set how forms are handled once they are submitted. We recently updated this in Aptuitiv Studio 3 and added in the following functionality:

  • Finished the abilitiy to set an auto-responder for a form.

Gallery

We recently upgraded the Gallery app to Aptuitv Studio 3. It was previously only available under our older Aptuitiv Studio 2. In addition to that we also added the following functionality:

  • Added support for pagination when viewing items by category on the public site.
  • Added support for viewing gallery items by category in the administration.

Pages

  • Added RSS feed capabilities to view changes for a page or recent changes to all pages. Atom format is also supported.
  • Improved the process of changing the template that a page uses or the content block layout that a content block uses. If either one of those change and you click "Save & Continue Editing" then the information for the page will automatically be refreshed.  Previously you had to click "Save Page", be taken back to the list of pages and then edit that page again. This helps streamline that process.
  • Improved the process of adding new pages to fix issues where some of the form elements weren't updated after adding new pages.
  • Updated the Edit Page interface to show second level tabs as vertical tabs instead of horizontal. We feel that this makes it easier to work with.
  • Added the ability for all page content block layout tags to be available to all page content block layouts. Previously you could only access the information for that specific content block layout. 
  • Set it so that when a page content block layout is updated all content blocks that use that layout are automatically updated. Previously you had to go back and manually save each page. For a large site this saves a lot of time.

Password Protected Directories

We added the ability to create password protected directories.  This doesn't create an actual folder on the server, but rather says that any URLs under the specified path should be password protected.  Any active public user would then be able to log in to see the content. This would be a great way to password protect an app or to create a password protected extranet.

Attributes

  • Added an Image Set attribute to group image attributes together. This is currently used in the Gallery app for the small, medium and large images for each gallery item.
  • Improved the editing process of attributes.
