An Introduction to Aptuitiv Studio 3

For the past 6 months we've been working on a new version of Aptuitiv Studio that we're calling Aptuitiv Studio 3.  This is a major upgrade that adds a lot of new features to the system, a few new apps and a new administration interface. Our main goal for the new system is to improve the flexibility and to make the administration user interface more consistent.

Here are some of the new features:

  • All Apps have Attributes, which give a lot of flexibility.  Attributes basically let you tell the system the information that you want to enter.  They allow you to have a custom website without custom software.
  • Themable administration.
  • Upgraded editor (we're using TinyMCE instead of FCKEditor).
  • Enhanced flexibility with templates and layouts.
  • More control over how Apps behave with expanded settings.
  • Consistent user interface in the administration.
  • AJAX is used to make the administration more responsive.
  • Improved navigation in the administration.

That is only the tip of the iceberg.  We'll be covering more specifics in upcoming posts.

New Add-on Apps

A few new add-on apps have been created as well.

Directory - This is great for anything that you would want to organize under categories or to simply have a list of something. We're using it for our customer list. Some other uses are for a personel directory or a membership directory for a chamber of commerce.

Forum - This one is pretty straight forward. It's a forum, or a bulletin board or whatever you want to call it.
